We have invested a great deal in recent years on automating our operational hospital processes. But because a hospital is a complex environment and no umbrella ERP application currently exists for hospitals, we have implemented a number of best-of-breed solutions to meet our needs. These include SAP for our financial and patient management needs, Infohos for the pharmacy and Oazis from Xtenso for pricing and invoicing our services. But we were experiencing major problems with the various operational data sources for maintaining a policy overview across the whole organisation. Fortunately, our experience has been very good with HealthReport and Cognos for our Minimal Clinical Data analyses and Balanced Scorecard monitoring. Standardising to the HealthReport Data Warehouse now provides us with a high-frequency and integrated solution for systematic hospital-wide policy that is straightforward to publish and distribute.

The implementation of Cognos Business Intelligence modules within the Saint-Pierre University Hospital (IRIS network), in collaboration with the engineer A. Decoene, the initiator of the HealthReport model, has enabled us to monitor the hospital’s financial situation on a day-to-day basis. In addition, the solution provides us the option of performing a detailed business analysis, comparing data from the various hospital areas (hospital and ambulance services, out-patient clinic, pharmacy, accounting, HR, MCS or “Minimum Clinical Summary”). The success of the formula has encouraged us to apply HealthReport in the other hospitals in the IRIS network.
